case study with Ginny Beckett, InvestSK Visitor Economy Officer
In 2017, South Kesteven District Council invested in a campaign to boost the district’s Visitor Economy through InvestSK, the council’s economic development and regeneration company.
Part of the work programme included a proposal to update the district’s existing A5 visitor booklet.
InvestSK Visitor Economy Officer, Ginny Beckett explains: “We wanted to relaunch the brochure as a brand new, high quality, publication which would support our tourism businesses and be attractive to visitors.”
“As part of the procurement process, publishing of the new visitor guide was put out to tender to local companies. Nimble Media was one of those shortlisted and eventually selected. The company were already producing the Discover Rutland visitor guide, as an example of a quality design.”
Nimble Media subsequently produced two editions of the Discover South Kesteven visitor guide for the years 2019 and 2020, supplying the editorial and photography, securing advertising and managing the magazine’s design, printing and distribution.
Both visitor guides were produced very much in partnership with Vicky and the Nimble Media team. Communication was excellent and it was a pleasure working with the friendly staff.
“The high-quality brochures received excellent feedback, with a number of South Kesteven’s hotels requesting them as a ‘bedroom browser’ for their guests.
“Demand for the publication was higher than anticipated and in 2019 we ran out of copies before the end of the season.”
The magazine changed its name in 2021 to Explore South Kesteven and continues to drive tourism whilst opening doors to new and seasonal activities.
