Discover Rutland Case Study
Discover Rutland Case Study
Discover Rutland was established in 2007 with the aim of stimulating and supporting the county’s visitor economy and ensuring a sustainable future for tourism in the county.
Partnership
In 2016, Nimble Media first began working with Discover Rutland. Initially, we were tasked with creating an official visitor guide for Rutland. Since 2016, Nimble Media has happily supported Discover Rutland with all aspects of its digital transformation as it scaled up to become the number one tourism centre for Rutland.
Nimble Media continues to honour our core values with this partnership, we've built a long-lasting relationship wth Discover Rutland and continue to approach every task with data-driven mindsets.
Successful Relaunch and New Initiatives
The relaunch of the Rutland Visitor Guide was a resounding success, and it wasn’t long before additional projects followed. One such initiative was the creation of the Rutland ‘Things to See & Do’ map, which has proven to be an invaluable resource for visitors wanting to explore the county. But perhaps one of the most creative and heartwarming campaigns was launched during the 2020 UK lockdown.
As the COVID-19 pandemic took hold, Nimble Media’s owner and director, Vicky Binley, led the ‘Rutland, Steady, Cook!’ campaign. The initiative aimed to support local food producers and the hospitality sector by encouraging people to engage with local businesses, even from a distance. This campaign captured the spirit of the community and garnered attention from national outlets, including BBC Radio 4’s You and Yours programme and the BBC Radio Leicester Breakfast.
Strong and Supportive Partnership
Jason Allen, Chair of Discover Rutland and owner of The Fox pub in North Luffenham, explains how the relationship with Nimble Media began: "In 2016, when I was vice-chair, the committee felt the guide could be much improved with some professional input. We wanted a local business with a deep understanding of Rutland’s tourism offering, and Nimble Media came highly recommended."
According to Jason, it was immediately clear that Vicky Binley, who resides in Rutland, had a real passion for the county. "From our first meeting, we could see Vicky’s enthusiasm for Rutland was contagious. She’s not only personable and energetic but also someone who delivers on her promises. In Vicky’s hands, we knew the guide would be produced to the highest standard."
Lasting Legacy and Strong Friendship
The partnership between Discover Rutland and Nimble Media has not only been professionally successful but has also fostered lasting personal connections. Vicky Binley now serves as the committee’s voluntary Head of Guides and Literature, further solidifying her commitment to supporting the local community and tourism sector.
Jason Allen sums it up best: "Discover Rutland would and has, recommended Nimble Media to our members seeking marketing support. And, on a personal note, a valued friendship has grown out of our working partnership."
As Discover Rutland continues to grow and evolve, the relationship with Nimble Media remains a cornerstone of its success, ensuring that Rutland's tourism story is told far and wide and that the county's unique charm continues to attract visitors for generations to come.
