Explore South Lincolnshire Case Study
In 2017, South Kesteven District Council launched a campaign to enhance the district’s Visitor Economy through InvestSK, the council’s economic development and regeneration company.
The goal was simple: to increase tourism and support local businesses by improving the district’s profile as a visitor destination. A key part of this initiative was to update and relaunch the district's existing visitor booklet – and that’s where Nimble Media came in.
Fresh Approach to Promoting South Kesteven
Ginny Beckett, the InvestSK Visitor Economy Officer, explains the motivation behind the project: “We wanted to create a brand-new, high-quality publication that would not only support our tourism businesses but also be a magnet for visitors. We wanted something that looked fresh and professional and showcased the best that South Kesteven has to offer.”
As part of the procurement process, the council put the publishing of the new visitor guide out to tender. Nimble Media was one of the companies shortlisted to take on the project, with the team’s work on the Discover Rutland guide standing out as an example of the high design standards that InvestSK was seeking.
“We were really impressed with the Discover Rutland guide. The design and layout were exactly what we were hoping to achieve with our own publication. Nimble Media’s reputation for quality was a big factor in our decision,” Ginny adds.
Surpassing Expectations
Demand for the guide exceeded expectations, with many more copies requested than initially anticipated. In fact, in 2019, the council ran out of copies before the end of the season, a testament to the guide’s popularity and effectiveness in driving tourism.
Ginny explains: “The response to the brochure was fantastic. It wasn’t just about the number of copies distributed – it was the quality of engagement we received from visitors and local businesses alike. The guide really helped to highlight what South Kesteven has to offer, from historic towns to outdoor activities and local attractions.”
Looking Ahead at ESL
As the tourism sector continues to evolve, Explore South Lincolnshire remains a central tool in the area’s ongoing efforts to attract new visitors and support local businesses. With Nimble Media’s continued involvement in updating and managing the guide, InvestSK is confident that the publication will continue to drive interest and engagement for years to come.
